Ladies, today is the day to leap!

Happy Leap Year Day! If you're a lady looking to propose to your man, then today is officially your day to do it!

Even though rules aren't as strict as they used to be, if you're looking for an excuse to pop the question to your boyfriend, then let me give you one! Long ago, women were not allowed to propose to their boyfriends, except on this one day: Leap Day, also known as Sadie Hawkins Day. This day was never recognized by English Law and was "leapt" over. So if you're really into tradition, but want to give the ring to him instead, then this is your big day to do it! Please let us know if you do, we'd love to share your story!

Of course, there is also the Irish tale that St. Patrick was the one who officially allowed women to propose on this day....only after St. Bridget complained to him.

As far as marrying on this day, or in this year, if you're superstitious, and Greek, they suggest to avoid it. Many couples in Greece will avoid planning their wedding during a Leap Year so they will not have bad luck during their marriage.

If you want to get married on a Leap Day and want it to be a traditional wedding weekend, you'll have to wait a few years. 2020 is the next time that Leap Day will be on a Saturday.

Whatever your thoughts and superstitions are, share them with us! If you're getting married this year, did you think about it being a Leap Year? Ladies, are you popping the question today? We'd love to hear your stories!

Happy Leap Day!

Gay or Straight, you have the right to be married to your love!

This is not our usual wedding blog. This is not a blog about how to greet your guests, what colors work best together, how to select your flowers or make your entrance more interesting...it's a serious blog.

It's about the right to love the person you love, shout it from the rooftops, and declare to everyone that you two are together forever. It's about exchanging rings and hearts...till death do you part.

Golden Wedding Planners is based in New Jersey and fully supports the right for a man and a woman to marry. We also support a woman to marry her girlfriend and a man to marry his boyfriend. There is no limit on love, and when you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, no one should be able to tell you "no".

Today, the New Jersey Assembly approved gay marriage in the State of New Jersey. Governor Chris Christie has vowed to veto this when it hits his desk. We are hoping and praying for something different, but won't hold our breath.

We're asking the Governor to please put love first. You may not understand it, but love deserves a chance. If people like Britney Spears and Kim Kardashian are allowed to make a mockery out of the sanctity of marriage, then the gay population is not your problem.

We've seen so many New Jersey reality stars take a stand for gay marriage on twitter and facebook. We've watched the newscasters interview everyday people who want the gay population to be able to marry. Golden Wedding Planners is adding their voice. We believe in love for all. You get one life, and you should be able to celebrate it in union with your soulmate. It doesn't matter the color of your skin, or if you're a man or a woman.

Love is blind. In a good way. The heart wants what the heart wants.

If Governor Christie doesn't veto this, and a man can marry a man and a woman can marry a woman, Golden Wedding Planners will offer 50% off every single package to the first TEN gay couples that book with us. We also have plenty of vendors willing to slash their prices as well.

We'll also do a contest for a completely free package for one lucky gay couple.

We can't wait to offer this....good luck to the gay community. We're crossing our fingers for you!
